FACTORY FOR WAITAKARURU

PROPOSAL TO MAKE CASEIN The establishment of a dairy factory in the Waitakaruru district is not progressing as rapidly as was expected from the tone of the meeting held some weeks ago. At a subsequent- meeting it was found that insufficient cows could be guaranteed for a cheese factory, and though the advocates were confident that the required number could be obtained by a thorough canvass, the question appears -to have been dropped in' favour of a casein factory. This would not be so costly. Its advocates are proposing to circulate an agreement -to supply, for they desire to safeguard the foundation members, and to ensure that those who come in during future seasons shall not have an advantage over those who provided the factory. The oollecti%>n of milk by contractors ,in the same vianner as cream is now collected is being considered.
