YESTERDAY’S APPEAL
OVER £BOO FOR HOSPITAL AUXILIARY street collection riiade by the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary yesterday in aid of the sick and needy resulted in the sum of £BO4 being realised. Returns from various functions: during the week are expected to brin;; tha total to over £1,000: Hast year the auxiliary had in hand the sum of £796. Tlie Mayoress, Mys. A. D. Campbell: Mrs. A. Kidd, president of the auxiliary: and Dr. BuckTey Turkington, secretary of "he committee,- and many other social workers, organised the appeal. Among the helpers for the day wero members of the J- C. Williamson Company, which is appearing at Hi* Majesty’s Theatre. . Tie public responded readily to the appeal. Mrs. Campbell stated that the. resit t was more gratifying when itwas realised that jio assistance had been received from the marine suburbs this year. She thanked all the helpers, and also the public for their generosity.
