ONE OF THE VERY BEST

RED FUCHSIA FOR SECOND AND THIRD DAYS Considerable interst will be taken in the form shown in the open hurdle events at Ellerslie on Monday and Wednesday by RED FUSCHIA, who in his schooling tasks the past few days has gone very smoothly and never looked like making a mistake. The Hastingstrained gelding was entered for the Great Northern Hurdles, but was withdrawn shortly after the appearance of the handicaps, his impost being 10.5. If not overburdened he will be prominent next week. Red Fuchsia carried 10.13 when he won the Century Hurdles, two miles, at Wanganui a fortnight ago. A stoutly-bred gelding is Red Fuchsia, sired as he is by All Red (twice

winner of the Auckland Cup in succession and. other events) from Nedra, who herself was a good performer over tlic obstacles, included in her annexations being the Wellington Steeplechase of 1913. Nedra is a daughter of Renown, one of the best of his period, out of Magic, a mare by Wonderland (son of Musket) from Mystery- This is the third

term on the racing trail of Red Fuchsia, who made his debut as a two-year-old, when his solitary effort resulted in a third placing. The following season saw him a winner once out of a dozen essays. Last season did not see him in action, but this season has seen him in improving style, his 20 attacks upon the stake money resulting in ten wins, three seconds and a similar number of thirds.
