Bushman, is the “heavy” in “The Fifty-Cent Girl,” with Bebe Daniels. * * * Milton Sills will have Yola D’Avril and Frances Hamilton, the latter a Pasadena girl new to pictures, for support, in “The Hawk’s Nest.” * * * Cecelia de Mille, daughter of Cecil B. de Mille, is appearing in several scenes of her father’s new picture, "The Godless Girl.” * * * Bess Meredyth is doing the adaptation and continuity of Ludwig Wolfe’s play, ‘ War in the Dark,” which Fred Niblo will direct for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. * * * Nigel de Brulier, noted character player, has been especially signed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer to play the important role of Don Jose in “The Tides of Empire.” * * * The latest co-starring comedy feature for Karl Dane and George K. Arthur, hitherto titled “Monkey Business,” has been altered to “Circus Rookies,” which was the original title. * * * Johnny Mack Brown will appear with Joan Crawford and Dorothy Sebastien in “The Dancing Girl.” He is a former all-American fullback and University of Alabama football star. Marcia Manor*, who may be remembered as one of the first screen vampires, is making her first film appearance in seven years in a new Aileen Pringle-Lew Cody comedy for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. * * ♦ “The Code of Honour” is the new title for Adolphe Menjou’s next Paramount picture, formerly titled “Captain Ferreol.” Evelyn Brent has the feminine lead. Nora Lane is also in the cast. Virginia Valli, one of the cleverest bridge players in the Hollywood movie colony, has been cast as a queen of clubs in “The Escape,” modernised Fox version of the late Paul Armstrong’s stage success. The new Paramount picture for the comedy team, W. C. Fields and Chester Conklin, is “Quick Lunch.” Jack Luden, on completion of his part in the Beery-Hatton “Partners in Crime,” will be added to the cast. * * * Responsible for the Australian-made film, “Those Who Love,” the three McDonagh sisters are now busily engaged in Sydney on their second production, “The Far Paradise. Arthur McLaglen has a prominent part in the film.

Will Hays became godfather to small Kenyon Clarence Sills at a christening ceremony at Hollywood recently. The baby is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Sills. Mrs. Sills is known professionally as Doris Kenyon.

Mary Philbin’s dangling curls are seriously endangered. It is reported that Miss Philbin’s screen services in the future may find her in the mature roles. She recently completed an important assignment in “The Man Who Laughs” for Universal.
