CHURCH SOCIAL AT OTAHUHU An enjoyable social evening was held in the Otahuhu Public Hall during the week, under the auspices of St. Joseph’s Social Committee. There was a large attendance of both dancers and card players. Music was supplied by an orchestra under the leadership of Mrs. J. Gillies, and Mr. T. C. Connelly acted as master of ceremonies. A spot waltz competition was won by Miss K. Nobbs and Mr. Haggett. and a Monte Carlo waltz by Miss O’Malley and Mr. Brady. Euchre trophies were won by Mrs. Wellington 1, Mrs. D. Jones 2, Mrs. Herdson 3, Mrs. Waddell consolation; Mr. Green 1, Mr. B. Cowatt 2, Mr. J. Poach 3, Mr. J. O. Sole consolation. During the evening a presentation was made co Mrs. Doyle, from the parishioners of St. Joseph’s, in recognition of her social work in the parish. Rev. Father Dumphy, in making the presentation of a silver tea service, thanked Mrs. Doyle and eulogised her good work.
