Dr. Mary Wilson, of Thames, is a guest at the Star Hotel Mrs. Peacocke, of Rotorua, is a visitor to Auckland, and is staying at Arundel. Mr. and Mrs. A. Green, of Hunterville, are spending a holiday in Auckland. Professor and Mrs. Denham left Auckland last evening for a visit to the South. x Miss Livesey, of Auckland, is the i guest of Mrs. B. E. Murhpy, Ivelburn, Wellington. Mrs. Cresswell, of Hataitai, Wellington, has returned to her home from a visit to Auckland. Lady Nolan and Miss Nolan returned to Auckland this morning, after a visit to Palmerston North. • * • Miss Phyllis Franklin, of Stanley Bay, has returned from a visit to friends in Wellington. Mrs. T. Murray, of Ohakune. is on a visit to Auckland and is staying with friends at Devonport. Among those at the Hotel Cargen are Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Orton, of Wanganui, and Mrs. B. Brewer, of To Kuiti. * * * At the Commercial Hotel are Mr. and Mrs. R. Thornton, of Gisborne, and Mr. and Mrs. McNab, of Matamata. * * * Mr. and Mrs. «L M. Chrichton, of Harrow, England, are visitors to Auck- , land, and are staying at Braeburn. Miss L. M. Paterson, of Remuera, who has been visiting friends in Wellington, has left for Christchurch and Timaru. Miss W. Averill, of Auckland, who has been in Rotorua for a few days, is now the guest of Mrs. J. Hammond, in Hamilton. At the Grand Hotel are Mr. and Mrs. Jackson, of Waverley, Mrs. and Miss Stephens, of England, and Mrs. D. Simpson, of Marton. Guests at the Central Hotel include Mr. and Mrs. J. Wilkie, of Raetahi, Mr. and Mrs. A. Green, of Hunterville, and Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Logan of Kaitaia. Mrs. Powell, of Westport, and her sister, Mrs. Shuttleworth, of Nelson, are visiting- their brother, Mr. Claydon, of Woodside Road, Mount Eden. * * * Miss C. O’Rorke, of Christchurch, who has been in charge of the Girl Guides’ camp in the Waitakeres, has returned to Auckland, and is staying at Braeburn. * * * Mr. and Mrs. F. Picot, of Wellington, Mr. and Mrs. F. Robinson, of Canterbury, and Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Hosking, of Whangarei, are staying at the Star Hotel. * * * At the Royal Hotel are Mr. and Mrs, J. W. Bell, of Titahi Bay, Wellington, Misses E. and P. Findlayson, of Ruanui, Mr. and Mrs. J. Kennedy, of Kariri, and Mr. and Mrs. Schumacher, of Stratford. Miss Meg Russell, who recently met with a serious accident while mountaineering at Mount Cook, has recovered sufficiently to leave the nursing home. With her mother, Miss Russell is staying at “Cadogan,” Sefton Street, Timaru. BRAVO, MISS WERNER! Congratulations across the seas to Miss Gertie Werner, of Pietermaritzburg. Recently she won the Empire small-bore shooting competition, held by the Society of Miniature Rifle Clubs in South Africa, scoring 300 out of a possible 300. She beat 2,599 other competitors—most of them men. And her age is 15.
