FORTUNE-TELLER FIINED MADAME SONIA’S MISTAKES Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. Madame Sonia was the name under which a woman was prosecuted at the Magistrate's Court this morning for the offence of fortune-telling. Despite protestations that it was not fortune-telling but a “God-given gift" that she exploited, madame was convicted and fined £2 and cotsts. The police matron said that defendant told her she was to get a legacy, but when questioned by the police woman she said, "The legacy is sure to come. What 1 see always comes. The signs are the highest of the sciences, and God has given me the gift to read them.”
