A BIZARRE FlSH.—Very rare in New Zealand waters. This striped angler (antennarius stnatus) was captured at Opua. The angler usually hides itself in seaweed, and then erects its little fishing-rod. Any small shrimp or crab approaching the brightly-coloured top of the “rod” is drawn into the cavernous mouth of the angler. The specimen was identified by Mr. L. T. Griffin, assitsant-curator of the Auckland Museum.
