FRIESIAN’S SUCCESS ADDRESS BY PRESIDENT Congratulating the New Zealanj Friesian Association on the solid sue* cess of the year, the president, Mr. H. .T. Marchant, in his address, states that probably more outstanding records have been made in 1927 thaa in any other year. “Two junior two-year-olds have made over 7001 b of fat for the year: one mature cow has produced S26lb of fat; two others cows have made 940 and 9861 b respectively,’ ’he says, '‘white yet another has gone over the I,ooolb mark. These are great records, and worthy of the breeds’ best traditions. “I would particulai ly like to direc: your attention to the 1,0021 bof fat produced by Monavale Queen Bess. You will remember that this cow started her career as a first calf heifer, when she established a new record for all breeds with 7401 bof fat. The following year, as a three-year-old. ehe made another new record for all breads by producing 8001 b, and this and her subsequent performances are all more remarkable when it is remem* bered that she lost a quarter at tl» commencement of her second test, and that this quarter has remained permanently blind. At five years of she was again tested, producing fat, and in 1927 she set the seal on her fame with a production of 1,0021 b.
