Market on ’Change Active
Banks and Insurance Selling CONSIDERABLE attention is being drawn to the banking and insurance section, and many sales have been transacted in these securities at increased prices.
HANKING section opened this morning with considerable business, Bank of Australasia are still in keen demand. National Bank of New Zealand are firmer with sales at £7 ss, Bank of New Zealand and Union Bank of Australia are also closely watched. Insurance shares are selling freely at increased prices. New Zealand and South British being: the two companies which are mostly attracting the investors. Timber shares remain weak, although a demand still exists for Kauri and Leyla nd-O’Brien. Dominion Pictures, both ordinary and preference shares, have steady buyers at 20s 6d; no shares offering. Mining is lifeless, with no business re-
ported. Waihi scrip have buyers at 11s sd; sellers 11s 9d, no business. Yesterday afternoon’s business. —On ’Change: Australian Bank of Commerce, £1 15s 6d.
