The Governor-General, Sir Charles rarffusson. will attend th c annual meeting of the St. John Ambulance Association this evening, and will in- . st Mr. C. J. Tunks with the insignia an officer of the Venerable Order t St. John of Jerusalem, and Dr. P. \loir with the insignia of an honorary Serving Brother of the order. His Excellency will also present certificates and medallions won during this year, and a number of long-service medals. Lady Alice Fergusson paid an unofficial visit to the Mount Kden prison on Monday afternoon. Mr. S. G- Holland, of Christchurch, js staying at the Star Hotel. Sir George Elliot left for the South by the Limited last evening. The Hon. George Fowlds was a passenger for Wellington last evening by th® Limited Mr. Hubert E. Carter was a passenger from Wellington this morning by the first express. Mr. J. C. Rolleston, M.P., returned to the Waikato this morning from a visit to Wellington. Mr. B. B. Wood, of Christchurch, arrived at Hamilton this morning by the Limited from Wellington. Mr. J. G. Julian, of Auckland, who has been visiting Christchurch, returned by the Limited to-day. The Rev. H. Van Staveren. chief rabbi, accompanied by his wife and daughter, is visiting Whangarei. Mr. W. W. Massey, of Mangere, president of the A. and P. Association, left for Wellington by train Istst evening. The Rev. C. Chandler, of the Anglican City Mission, has left Auckland for Dargaville. where he will speak in the interests of the mission. Mr. J. R. Lundon returned from Hamilton yesterday, where he interviewed the Prime Minister on the subject of the Murray charges. The Rev. Jasper Calder, who left Auckland for the South last evening, will be the preacher at the patronal festi\al of Holy Trinity, Avonside, Christchurch. Dr. T. G. Gray, of Wellington, Inspector-General of Mental Hospitals, and Dr. A. C. McKillop, of Christchurch, returned South last evening after a short visit to Auckland. Mr. H. B. Burnett, superintendent and secretary of the Auckland Harbour Board, is at present on holiday. His place is being taken by Mr. W. B. Sjnith, assistant secretary. Mr. R. H. Goodwin, consulting engineer for Nobel’s, Ltd., and Mr..H. Mor%n. of London, have been visiting North Auckland, and were keenly interested in the mineral resources of the Puhupuhi and Kaikohe districts. Mr. A. R. McElwain, manager of the Regent Theatre, Wellington, has gone to Dunedin, where he will be attached to the new Regent Theatre in that city (which will be opened on Friday) for the opening weeks. Police-Sergeant G. Lambert, late of the Newton police district, took up his duties at Otahuhu on Monday.
