LEADERSHIP IN GREECE
OFFER BY VENIZELOS REJECTED ACCEPTING THE REPUBLIC (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian Press Association) Reed. 9.5 a.m. ATHENS, Sunday. M. Tsaldaris rejected M. Venizelos’s offer concerning the leadership of the Liberals. He said the question of the regime was not useable as a basis for bargaining. It was announced that M. Venizelos had offered to resign the leadership of the Liberals and to leave Greece if the Royalist parties unreservedly accept the Republic. The leader of the Party of Free Opinion, General loannes Metascas, is consulting the leader of the Popular Party, M. Panayioti Tsaldaris. * M. Venizelos had agreed to a reconstruction of the Cabinet, which, he says, he will tolerate if a Bill to institute a Senate is promptly passed.
