Rogge, the Dutch-American iournalist. who is visiting Auckland, was a guest at to-day’s Rotary Club luncheon. Mr. E. T. Spidey, of the head office of the Railways Department, arrived from Wellington this morning and is at the Star Hotel. The Rev. Dr. H. Ranston. of the Methodist Theological College, returned io Auckland this morning from the South. Mr. W. Grounds, chairman of the pairy Produce Board, will leave for Hamilton on Wednesday and will leave for the South Island later in the week. Mr. W. M. Passmore, manager of Donaghy’s Rope and Twine Co., Ltd., Auckland, left by the Limited for Wellington last evening. Mr. William Heughan has returned to Auckland after a visit to Rotorua ind Hamilton. He attended to-day’s Rotary Club luncheon. He is at the Hotel Cargen. Mr. E. G. Thorpe, boys’ welfare officer at Auckland, has been transferred to Hamilton, where he will have charge of the Child Welfare Department. Mr. J. R. O’Sullivan will take his place here. Dr. Van Staveran, Chief Rabbi for the Jewish congregations in New Zealand, arrived from Wellington this morning. He was accompanied by Mi*. Van Staveran, and is staying with Mrs. Isaacs, at Epsom, before going to Whangarei. Mr. Robert Whitson, of Remuera, who was injured in the railway accident on the Gisborne line on May 21, peached home during the week-end. Mr. Whitson hopes to have recovered sufficiently to resume business in a week or two. Ueut.-General Sir William Furse, director of the Imperial Institute, expressed the hope in his annual report that he may be able to visit New Zealand next September or October, at the time of the Imperial Forestry Conference.
