STEEPLECHASE AT MANGERE AN ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON The Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club held a cross-country run at Mr. Scown’s farm, Mangere, on Saturday. It was a most enjoyable afternoon’s sport, and over the three miles course the competitors were presented with some stiff obstacles, and several ditches had to be negotiated. J. Crum, who has been showing great form this season, was the winner. Following are the results: 75Yds. Handicap.—First heat: T. E. Henry, 3yds, 1; E. Horan, 12yds, 2; N. Xilson, 6yds, 3. Ten started. Won by 2ft. Time, 8 3-ssec. Second heat: A. E. Butler, 2£yds, 1: W. Vallance, 10yds, 2: G. Williams, Syds, 3. Nine started. Won by a yard, with inches between second and third. Time, S 3-osec. Final.—A. E. Butler, 3: T. E. Henry, 2; W. Vallance and N. Nilson, dead heat, 3. A splendid finish, Butler winning by inches from Henry. Time, 8 2-ssec. Three Miles Steeplechase.—J.
