MORRINSVILLE INTERESTS The Waikato Hospital Board notified the Morrinsville Borough Council at its meeting last week that the levy for the year was £495 7s 2d. The following standing committees were appointed for the year:—Works committee, Messrs. B. Chapman, T. Morton and F. S. Donald; finance committee, Messrs, Morrice, Osborne and Reason; library committee, Messrs. Donald and Reason; cemetery committee, the Mayor and deputy-mayor; baths committee, Messrs. Chapman, Morrice and Reason; band committee. Messrs. Osborne, Reason, Morrice and Martin; fire brigade committee, Mr. Chapman; reserves committee, Messrs. Chapman, Martin and Morrice. * * * The Tauhei Drainage Board has interested the Piako County Council in a proposal to double the width of the bridge over a drain at Motumaoho. If this is done flood damage will be lowered to a negligible quantity. The council has deputed two members to report on the bridge proposal. WAIHI AFFAIRS The formation of a branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was decided upon at a large meeting of Waim farmers. Mr. A. H Bl&ckmore was appointed president, pro tem., and Mr. O. Bjerring secretary. Other officers will b® appointed later. The rough state of the Waihi-Paeroa Road has for some time past been adversely commented upon by the travelling public. The Ohinemnn County Council is to be urged to take immediate steps towards making permanent repairs. Miss C. Duffy, of Waihi, who has been teaching at the Mar.gatoi (Te Puke) School, has been ajpointed ar assistant at the Waihi South School.
