JUDGE RULES SHEEP MUST BE RETURNED
MAORI’S CLAIM SUCCEEDS Reserved judgment was delivered in the Supreme Court this morning by Mr. Justice Blair in the case of Tema Pouwhare Kewene against J. H. Davies. The claim made by plaintiff as administrator for Pairama Keena (deceased) was for the return of 184 sheep and their produce, the of the estate alleged to have been wrongfully converted by defendant, or for their value, £276, and £25 damages for detention. The farm was at Pongotiki, in the Huntly district. Satisfied that a strong prima face case had been established, his Honour made an order for the return of the sheep or their value.
