Fine Fields Have Paid Up for Ellerslie
Auckland Winter Meeting Will Eclipse Others THE ACCEPTANCES The Great Northern meeting is to be held at Ellerslie on Saturday, Monday and Wednesday, June 2, 4 and 6, and from present indications it would appear that this popular fixture is going to eclipse its predecessors. Acceptances for all the first day’s events, as well as the Great Northern Steeplechase, to be run on the second day (King’s Birthday) were received by Mr. W. S. Spence, secretary of the Auckland Racing Club, up to 5 p.m. yesterday, and the result is highly satisfactory. DIVISION IN JERVOIS HANDICAP? The biggest field of the day will be seen out in the Jervois Handicap, in which the number of acceptors exceeds by many the safety number, 31, and there appears to be every prospect of this event being run in two divisions. In the three principal events—G.N. Hurdles, G.N. Steeplechase and Cornwall Handicap—good fields remain in, and very few of the fancied horses faild to survive the acceptance. The acceptances are as follow: CORNWALL HANDICAP Of £1,000; 1$ miles. —Acceptors—
