PARENTS’ EVENING
“Parents’ Evening,” organised by the Devonport Troop of Boy Scouts last evening, was very successful, the Methodist Hall being crowded. Dr. F. O. Pope and the troop committee welcomed the parents and friends of the boys. Exhibitions of scoutcraft, physical exercises and blindfold boxing entertained the guests. Mr. T. S. Cornish occupied the chair and presented to the scoutmaster, Mr. F. Jones, a wristlet watch subscribed for by scouts, in appreciation of Mr. Jones’s energetic work for the troop. In return for the courtesy of the troop the visitors donated sufficient money to equip the new headquarters on Mount Victoria. The secretary was instructed to
convey congratulations to the Calliope Sea Scouts on winning the Sea Scout Trident this year. Mr. R. T. Michaels was elected president and Mr. T. S. Cornish vicepresident for the coming year.
