CRUELTY TO HORSE

TWO MEN FINED S.M. BLAMES EMPLOYER Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. In fining two employees of a contractor for cruelty to their horses, the magistrate, Mr. C. R. Orr-Walker, said: “I think that the employer should be more heavily punished than his employees. It is peculiar that the charges were laid against the men. I wonder what a man would do if he had a sore hand. He would probably stay away from work, demand his wages and take good care of himself, but when it is a poor dumb animal which is injLLred, it is driven and forced to work in this dastardly manner.”
