LABOUR PARTY DANCE Old-time dancing such as D’Alberts and waltzes will be enjoyed at the O’Neill Street Hall, Ponsonby, this evening under the auspices of the G.rey Lynn Labour Party. Paltridge’s Orchestra will play and have an unusually fine programme of the newest music timed to suit oldtime dances. The floor of the hall is excellent for dancing and a happy evening is assured. A hard-up social, with prizes for the best dresses, will be held next Wednesday evening, the proceeds being devoted to the national campaign fund. NORMA SHEARER’S NEW FILM “THE LATEST FROM PARIS" Norma Shearer, who played with great success the role of a woman attorney in “The Waning Sex,” again invades man’s sphere. This time in “The Latest From Paris,” Norma is seen in the role of a travelling saleswoman, competing with half a dozen male salesmen, outselling them all and winning the heart of her keenest rival —as well as a partnership in her firm. Ralph Forbes is seen in the leading male role. The cast includes George Sidney and Tenen Holtz, Jewish character comedians, Margaret Landis, Bert Roach, William Bakewell and others. [Douglas Maclean, who has appeared in several Paramount pictures, was imcently signed by A 1 Christie to star in two short-feature productions to be made at the Paramount-Christie studios.
