FALSE TAX RETURNS £25 PENALTIES FOR PAST FIVE YEARS For the past five years the incometax paid by Alexander Shand, baker, of Huntly, has totalled £307 less than the amount which should have been paid. Shand pleaded not guilty, at tho Police Court yesterday, to five charges of making false income-tax returns. 11l evidence Shand said that he knew very little about book-keeping. He had made his returns only on the income derived from his business. "I will make it dear for these people,” said the magistrate. Mr. F. K. Hunt, as he fined Shand £25 on each of the five charges.
