MISUSE OF CONCESSION

BOY’S TRAM TICKET WARNING PROSECUTION A warning prosecution intended for wrongful users of school concession tram tickets was brought before the Children’s Court this morning. A 15-year-old boy appeared before Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., for using a ticket, when it was not available for the purpose, on the Herne Bay route. A tramways inspector, Mr. E. Hardman, said that the boy presented a schoolboys’ concession card at 7.30 a.in., and when questioned said he was on his way to work, but was going to school at night. The concession rate was a mile, and the full fare 2id. The boy. explained that he thought he was entitled to use the ticket in the morning. Tie was earning 7s 6d a week. In admonishing him, the magistrate said that he had no right to use it in the morning. There was a certain amount of excuse for him. Future cases would be more severely dealt with, and if that was not a sufficient deterrent, the cards might be withdrawn. The boy was admonished and discharged.
