Sir Charles Higham, the Br.tish advertising expert, has asked tlie “New York Times” why, as Major Fitsmaurice is a loyal British subject, no British flag was displayed in the decorations of Chicago and New York, ar l if, when Colonel Lindbergh was received in London, the British had displayed no United States flags, “what would have been said in New York?” Mr. Glover Whalen, the secretary of the Mayor’s reception, characterised Sir Charles as “all wet,” and his question as absurd. “Major Fitzmaurice was an officer of the Irish Free State,” he said, “and an such was honoured by the flags • f the Irish Free State. That’s all there is to that,” added Whalen.
