STOLE TYPEWRITERS AND MONEY FROM MATE
COMPOSITOR CHARGED Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. Abraham Novak, a compositor, aged 29, appeared before Mr. E. Page, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court to-day, on charges of the theft of £5 and three typewriters to a total value; of £42 18s. The chief-detective said that Novak was employed at the “Dominion” newspaper and had committed the offences when he ceased work at two o’clock in the morning. He had stolen £ 5 from a workmate and the typewriters at different dates. Accused had been fined £1 in 1917 for theft.
Counsel for Novak, in asking for probation, said that Novak stole the typewriters as he had been pressed by some of his creditors ti raise money. He was remanded for sentence until Alonday.
