WAIKATO’S FINANCES
NEED FOR A REVIEW RESIGNATION OF SECRETARY (Special to THB SUN) HAMILTON, To-day. After 19 years as secretary to the Waikato Trotting Club, Mr. Arthur J. Smith resigned from the position last night. Mr. Smith said he was leaving not because of differences with . the past president an dmembers, but t solely on account of business reasons. “Although the position is not serious, we will have to review the fin- ] anees,” said Mr. H. Burch, chairman of 1 the Finance Committee, at a commit- ■ tee meeting of the Waikato Trotting ‘ Club last night. It was stated that the bank overdraft amounted to £2,800, and present liabilties £3,200. There would be heavy commitments before December. J when the next source of revenue came i from the next meeting. The committee decided to enter into negotiations with the bank for an extension of credit and to exercise every economy. A delegation of the club will wait on th© Prime Minister here next week to discuss trotting matters. Mr. E. Goodwin was appointed a life member.
