WILSON, Town Clerk. gOROUGH OF DEVONPORT Public Notice is hereby given that the Devonport Borough Council, in pursuance of its powers under "The Municipal Corporations Act 1920,” "The Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1926,” “The Rating Act, 1925,” and all other powers enabling it in that behalf, intends on WEDNESDAY, the thirteenth day of JUNE, 1928, to make and levy for the year commencing on the first day of April, 1925, and ending on the thirty-first day of March, 1929: 1., A GENERAL RATE of 2 5-lf>d (Two and Five-sixteenths pence) in the £ and, 2. A LIGHTING RATE of Ld in the £ upon the unimproved rateable value of all property as appearing on the Valuation Roll for the time being in force in the Borough of Devonport. 3. A HOSPITAL RATE of 3-10th d (Three-tenths of a penny) in the £ on the Capital Value of all rateable property as appearing on the Valuation Roll for the time being in force in the Borough of Devonport. 4. A UNIFORM ANNUM FEE for refuse removal purposes of 15s upon all properties situate within the Borough of Devonport as has a building erected thereon. All the aforesaid rates to be payable in each case in one sum on the 16th day of JULY, 1928, at the Council Chambers, Marine Square, Devonport, to A. E. Wilson, the Council’s Collector, or to such other person as may from time to time be appointed to collect the same. That the Estimates upon which the rates are being struck having been approved by the Council are open for inspection in the Council Chambers, Marine Square, Devonport. That the Rate Books and Valuation Rolls are open for inspection in the Council Chambers between the hours of 9 a.m. j j and 4 p.m. on all business days of the week except Saturdays, when the said rate books and Valuation Rolls shall be open for inspection between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12 noon. SPECIAL RATES:— Notice is hereby given that the Annual Recurring Special Rate (a) No. 1, of Id In the £. (b) No. 2, of three farthings in the £. (c) No. 3, of one halfpenny in the £. (d) No. 4, of eleven thirty seconds of a penny in the £. (e) No. 5, of one farthing in the £. (f) No. 6, of one penny farthing in the£. (g) No. 7, of one penny and five-sixteenths of a penny in the £. (h) No. 8, of three-eighths of a penny In the £. (i) No. 9, of twopence and twenty-one-thirty-seconds of a penny in the £. (g) No. 7, £1,200 Kiosk Loan. (h) No. 8, £12,000 Water, etc., Loan. (i) No. 9, £132,000 Comprehensive Streets Improvement Loan. (j) No. 10, £40,000 Electricity Loan. (k) No. 11, £21,000 Electricity Loan. (l) No. 12, £16,000 Waterworks Loan. (m) No. 13, £5,500 Roads, etc. (Cemetery Reserve) Loan. (n) No. 14, £2,750 Fire Station Loan. (t) No. 20, £ll,lOO Unemployment Relief Loan. will be payable at the Office aforesaid in one instalment on the 16th day of July, such combined rate to be 4 3-16 d (exclusive of No. 7, £1,200 Kiosk Loan; No. 10, £40,000 Electricity Loan; and No. 11, £21,000 Electricity Loan, in respect of which no rate is to be collected), for the period above-mentioned on the rateable value on the Valuation Rolls of all rateable properties within the Borough of Devonport on the basis of the unimproved value. STANLEY BAY RESERVE LOAN SPECIAL RATING AREA. I and that a rate of £d in the £ on the unimproved value of each property in I the Stanley Bay Reserve Special Rating | Area on account of the annual recurI ring special rate of 3-8 d for interest and sinking fund on loans of £2,200 will be payable for the period above-mentioned, and be payable as aforesaid on the 16th day of July, 1928. WATER RATES AND CHARGES:— And notice is hereby further given that in pursuance of powers under the “Municipal Corporations Act, 1920,” “The Rating Act, 1925,” “The Reserves and Other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1916,” (Section 26), and the Acts amending the same respectively and all other powers enabling it in that behalf do make and levy for the year commencing on the Ist day of April, 1928, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1929, the following water charges and rates:— (1) Where water is supplied by meter: (a) In respect of Ordinary Supply as defined by Clause 260 of By-law No. 1, 1926, the sum of One Shilling and Sixpence per thousand gallons with a minimum rate of 15s (fifteen shillings) per half-year. (b) In respect of meters supplied by the Council, an annual charge of 7s 6d, payable at the rate of 3s 9d per half-year. (2) Where water is not supplied by | meter:— respect of Ordinary Supply, upon all lands and buildings to which water is supplied the annual rateable value of which as appearing on the Valuation Rolls does not exceed £25 a rate of Ten Shillings; exceeding £25 a rate of 2 per cent, on such value; with an additional charge in terms of clause 261, of By-law No. 1, 1926, of 10s (Ten Shillings) per annum for each water closet cistern. The above water charges and rates to be payable in every case in two half-yearly instalments, the first upon the First day of October, 1928, and the second upon the First day of April, 1929. (3) NON - CONSUMERS’ WATER RATES; Upon all lands and buildings to which water can be but is not supplied, situated within 100 yards from any part of the waterworks, a rate not exceeding one-half of the rates abovementioned, such rates to be for the year commencing on the Ist day of April, 1928, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1929, and such rate to be payable in one sum on the First day of October, 1928. The above water charges and rates to be payable in each case to Alfred Ernest Wilson, the Council’s Collector,, or such other person as may be from time to time appointed to collect the same. REBATE ON RATES. And public notice is further given that the Council has resolved that a rebate of £5 per centum be allowed to every ratepayer on the total amount of rates payable by him (excluding water rates and charges) if such rates be paid within thirty (30) days from the due date thereof.
