“BABY MINE” TO-NIGHT Laughter is the keynote of the bright and sparkling programme which has its initial screening to-night at the Majestic Theatre. First and foremost on the programme is “Baby Mine,” with Karl Lane and George K. Arthur. “Baby Mine” is a hilarious adaptation of the famous stage play, in which Karl Lane and George K. Arthur, comical heroes of “Rookies,” make their second appearance as a comedy team. The new production is a lilting comedy of two collegians who get "nto love affairs and hot water, with an uproarious climax in which stolen babies and a wild chase figure. Among the high spots are the love scenes between Lane and Miss Greenw’ood, and the clinic at the “university ofi vertebral manipulation.” Arthur and Miss Lorraine also stage some hilarious adventuress. “Baby Mine” is one of the most famous comedies of the speaking stage, a success in every city of the world. Another hilarious comedy is entitled “Monty of the Mounteds,” starring London’s leading laugh-maker, Lupine Lane. This is one of the best and most amusing comedies which have been released for some months. It is a burlesque of the North-West and Mounted Police melodramas, with Lane in the role of a. newcomer to the force. His adventures when he sets out to “get his man,’’ his attempts to ride a horse, and the many other exciting and amusing incidents will afford everyone a hearty laugh. Then there is a Majestic Magazine, with scenes of movie thrills, beautiful Cuban Senoritas, a trip over the Swiss Alps, and ski stars, a Pathe Gazette, with scenes of Captain HinchclifLe, swans being despatched for Portugal, delightful scenes of the little Luchess of York, and “Just Hats,” showing some charming creations. One of those popular New Zealand scenic films, and an amusing Aeosop Fable concludes the programme. A musical programme of the same high standard as is usually presented by Mr. Whiteford-Waugh, and the Majestic Orchestra, will be played. In addition to bright musical gems the Majestic Orchestra will specially feature, “La Lame Blanche,” as their overture. In addition to the musical side of {he programme, Mr. Birrell O’Malley, the popular Auckland tenor, will sing several popular songs.
