BRITAIN’S GREAT FAIR
RECORD ATTENDANCE FRUITS OF PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN (From. Our Resident Reporter. ) WELLINGTON. To-day Mr. W. D. Lambie, his Majesty’s Deputy Trade Commissioner for New Zealand, has received a letter from tho Department of Overseas Trade outlining the splendid results achieved by the British Industries Fair in London and Birmingham recently, and specifically referring to the great interest taken in the fair by newspapers and business men in all the British Dominions and colonies. It will be remembered that a large publicity campaign was carried out in New Zealand prior to the fair, with a result that a considerable number of men from the Dominion male a special trip to England. Over 2,000 individual firms exhibited and all reported excellent business, without exception. The attendances of both Home and overseas buyers was a record and nearly 2,000 buyers from the Dominions visited the White City section, the total attendances at both sections exceeding 200.000. The succiiss of the fair from the point of view of the number of overseas buyers of their Home representatives who attended is largely attributable to the cumulative effect of the world-wide publicity secured for the fair during the last three years, and the British Treasury has decided to repeat the grant of £25,000 for advertising the next fair in February and March, 1929. A film record of the last fair was taken, and is being distributed throughout the Empire. The film is expected to arrive in New Zealand within a few weeks.
