LEVY PROPOSED Press Association HASTINGS, Thursday. The Fruitgrowers’ Provincial Conference to-day resolved to support a proposal to create a central fund for the purpose of substituting the Government guarantee which is likely to be abolished next season. This fund would b© created by a board collecting a maximum levy of 3d a casp and, after paying ordinary expenses, it would transfer the balance of each year’s levy to such a central fund. Provision would be made whereby, in the event of the fund reaching a sum considered to be sufficient, the yearly contributions could be refunded, commencing with the first year’s contributions, to the shippeis in proportion to the individual contributions made.
