MOTORIST RUNS INTO CARLOAD OF GIRLS
NO ONE IN JURED DRIVER INTOXICATED Press Association HOKITIKA, To-day. As the result of two motor-cars colliding on the Arahura Road at 5 o’clock last evening, William Harold Shaw, a commercial traveller, appeared in the Magistrate's Court, charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a car. Police evidence showed that the collision occurred on a 124 ft road, in spite of the efforts of the other driver, the deefndant’s car swinging across almost at right angles into the other car which was carrying a team of hockey girls. Both cars were badly smashed, the front wheels, mudguards and running boards being broken, but none of the occupants were injured. Defendant was fined £lO and costs and suppression of his name was refused.
