NEW PAREORA BRIDGE

BOROUGHS TO SHARE COST Press Association . TIMARU, Wednesday. Mr. Orr Walker, S.M., sat as a commission, to determine in what proportions the new bridge over the Pareora River should be paid for by local bodies interested. The bridge, which is on the main highway, is to cost £15,000, of which the Highways Board will pay £IO,OOO. After hearing evidence the parties arrived at a settlement in which Waimate County will pay £2,000, Waimate Borough £SOO, Levels County £1,400, and Timaru Borough £l,lOO. This is the first occasion on which the boroughs named have had to contribute toward the cost of a county bridge. The bridge in question spans the river on the boundary between Waimate and Levels Counties,
