EMPIRE
“BRED IN OLD KENTUCKY” One of the greatest horse-racing stories ever filmed is “Bred In Old Kentucky,” starring Viola Lana, and now being shown at the Empire Theatre. The racing episodes are not only thrilling and the ultimate in entertainment, but they are absolutely and painstakingly accurate. Miss Dana’s interpretation of the little Irish lass whose legacy of one racehorse is her sole fortune, is spirited and thoroughly delightful. The picture is happily balanced with drama, comedy and a large share of romance. The cast includes Jerry Miley, Jed Prouty, Josephine Crowell, James Mason and Roy Laidlaw. “The Lone Eagle,” the second feature on the programme, and starring Barbara Kent and Raymond Keane, is a particularly thrilling story of the Royal Flying Corps in France during the war.
