Motor-Cyclist Killed
FEARFUL COLLISION IN DARKNESS CRASH INTO HORSE VEHICLE (From Our Oxen Correspondent) DARGAVILLE, To-day. A serious collision between a motor-cycle and a horse-drawn wagon took place in the darkness last night at Ruawai, resulting in the death, at Te Kopuru Hospital, of the rider of the motor-cycle, Robert Baff, Public Works foreman. Mr. Baff, accompanied by a m»n in the sidecar, Harry Wallace, was proceeding along the road when they met and collided with a wagon, driven by L. Ambury, with such force that Mr. Baff received a compound fracture of the leg, and other terrible injuries. Medical aid and an ambulance were summoned from Dargaville, 25 miles away, and the injured man rushed to the hospital, but his injuries were so great that he succumbed early this morning from loss of blood and shock. Deceased was a married man with one child. Ho was the eldest son of
Mr. R. Baff, engineer to the Otamatca County Council*.
Mr. Wallace, the occupant of the side-car, escaped with bad bruises. Mr. Ambury was unhurt.
