WALLPAPER ON WOOD
IN answer to ‘‘Wallpaper's'* query as to what he can add to ordinary paste to make paper stick on wooden walls, the only remedy is to mix carefully a small proportion of glue size with the paste. It is not possible to recommend even this expedient, as it is really impracticable to stick paper on wood. with such a variable climate as that of Auckland, a considerable amount of contraction and expansion goes on in the walls, which must be either t. and g. or butted boards. Unless there is scrim on on the boards the wallpaper must necessarily burst at the joins between the boards or be pulled off the wall. It would be better if “Wallpaper" put up scrim when he would have no further trouble and would experience the satisfaction attending a good job well done. Questions are welcomed by the writer of “The Home Beautiful," who is pleased to be of assistance to subscribers in any of the difficulties which may beset them.
