SPURRED TO ACTION
N.Z. CYCLIST RETURNS AUSTRALIAN CRITICISM An Auckland cyclist, H. G. Brewin, has been spurred to greater effort by the critics in Australia. Yesterday he returned to Auckland by the Marama after a stay of seven months in Sydney. The critics told him that he was too lazy, otherwise he would be in the first flight of cyclists. Now he intends to settle down and take up the gam© conscientiously. During his stay in Sydney Brewin was attached to the Marrickville Cycling Club and competed in five road races. He won three events, the 5, 10 and 20 miles. In th© other two he was unplaced, but gained the fastest time. Times are slower in Australia, because of the roads, said Brewin yesterday. He likes th e country and received a great reception from the people. Wooden rims on bicycles a.re not allowed across the Tasman, as the Australians consider that they are dangerous. f
