VAUDEVILLE AND PICTURES “Open Range,” an adaptation of Zane Grey’s story of the colourful days in the West, is now being shewn a r . the ; Britannia Theatre, starring Lane Chandler and Betty Bronson. “Open Range” is a story of the cowboy, Tex Smith, who, attracted by the ; pictures of the hostess for a small i town anniversary celebration, vows to I marry her. Lucy, the hostess, is amazed at his boldness, but—she likes hirn. At the rodeo, he tries to impress her by rid- : ing a bucking bronco. Lucy enters the , ladies’ buggy race. She wins, but after the contest loses control of the horses. Tex follows her, and as he rides off, the cowboy guard recognises him as the supposed horse thief. The big punch in the picture comes in the last reel. Indians attack the town of Marco, where lives the heroine, and they are driven out only when the hero stampedes a herd of cattle into the town. interesting vaudeville programme will also be presented this evening, headed by Baby Olar, New Zealand’s wonder child.
