EARLY ARRIVALS
SOME FANCIED CANDIDATES A STRING OF EIGHT The first of the visiting contingent to arrive at headquarters put in an appearance this morning, the Main Trunk train bringing two U.G's with eight horses. Their appearance was a reminder, if such were needed, of the near approach of the Auckland winter meeting, which is set down to be opened at Ellersiie on Saturday week. The arrivals this morning comprised the Great Northern Steeplechase candidate Tuki, the Great Northern Hurdles and Steeples horses Aberfeldy, Maunga. Comical, Perle de Leon, and the hurdlers Peneus, Red Fuchsia and Geyserland. These horses were all at Wanganui, and all but the last-named raced there, Red Fuchsia winning the Century Hurdles and Perle de Leon being second to him, while Tuki ran second to Brigadier Bill in the Wanganui Steeplechase. Work Will Be Interesting The arrival of these Southerners will make the morning’s work at Filer slie much more interesting, for they include much fancied candidates in both big jumping events. Throughout the week
