H. H. Sterling returned to Hamilfc.n this morning from Wellington. The Hon. George Fowlds left for the South by the Limited last evening. The Rev. F. S. Harty left for Sydney yesterday afternoon by the Aorangi. professor W. Riddet was a passenger for Sydney yesterday by the Aorangi. Mr. A. S. Bankart returned from Wellington this morning by the Limited. Captain and Mrs. Chudley were among the passengers who left for the South last evening. Dr. G. B. Sweet and Mrs. Sweet left yesterday by tho Aorangi for a fortnight’s holiday in Sydney. Mr. H. Steers, of the publicity branch ot the railways, arrived in Auckland this morning by the Limited. Mr. J. K. Lowe, District Engineer, Auckland Railways, returned from Wellington by the Limited this ingMr. W. Goodfellow, managing director of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairv Company, went South last evening on the Limited. IVIr. C. Alma Baker, of the Malay gtates, left for Sydney by the Aorangi Sjsterday. He was accompanied by rs. Baker and Miss Baker. Mr. W. F. O’Donnell, secretary of the Auckland A. and P. Association, returned this morning from Hawke’s Bay. where he attended the funeral of his father. Mr. B. Gotlieb, tho newly-appointed XJ.S.A. Consul at Wellington, arrived by the Makura from Sydney. Mr. Gotlieb, who has held the- consular position at Singapore for the last 18 months, relieves Mr. W. L. Lowrie. The Hon. O. J. Hawken, Minister of Agriculture, who returned to Wellington from the South on Sunday, has gone to Taranaki where he will join the Hon. A. D. McLeod, Minister of Lands, on a tour of several electorates. Major-General J. M. Sloan, C. 8., C.8.G., D. 5.0., Deputy-Director of Medical Services, Southern Command, India, left by the Aorangi for Sydney yesterday, after a short holiday troutfishing at Tokaanu. With him was Mrs. Sloan. Major and Mrs. ’»S. H. Elkington, of London, who arrived by the Makura from Sydney, are on a tour which includes'Australia, New Zealand and Canada. They are going from Wellington to Napier, thence to Taupo and Wairakel. to Rotorua and Hamilton and then Auckland, to take the Aorangi to Vancouver.
