TREES FOR HOSPIT/,L TAUMARUNUI PROPOSAL The Taumarunui Public Hospital stands in an area of about 30 acres oi land, and hitherto upwards of lo acres of the unusued portion has been regarded as waste. The board hits now resolved that the waste land is to be planted with trees, which will pr o . vide timber in the future. The proposal came as a recommendation from a special con mitten of the board, and was unaninouglv adopted, members expressing the opinion that it would cost only about £3O to plant the area, and on present indications the timber would be worth £4OO an acre in 20 years’ time Such an asset would go far toward paying off any liability on the hospital. TE AWAMUTU NEWS FIRE DESTROYS HOUSE A seven-roomed house owned by Mr. Charles Taylor, near Kihikihi was destroyed by fire on Saturday afternoon. The building was insured for £BOO in the State Office.
