Divorce Avoidable

American Woman s Secret

PopularHty Can Be Yours

“Nine-tenths of th e divorces could have been avoided if the principals had been students of human analysis,” says M.rs. Corinna Anita Woods, who arrived in Sydney from America recently. “If we recognise that we are not all alike and know that we react in different ways from other people, we

will know how to get along serenely with persons with whom we could not otherwise be happy. “There should be no such thing as enemies. You can make everybody like you if you only know how.” And Mrs. Woods considers that in character analysis she has the secret of smoothing all the ruffles out of human nature, and making a world of peaceful, loving people, who will go about their jobs with a greater degree of efficiency and happiness than ever before. She says that many of the big department stores in America have sacked the employment cierk, and installed in his (or her) place a charac- j ter analyst and vocational guide. Mrs. Woods bases her analyses on physical characteristics. She can tell by the colour of your eyes, the shape of your hands and the set of your ears whether you should be washing dishes or directing empires. And when she addresses an audience she asks all the women to remove their hats and gloves, so that she can get an idea of the types of people to whom she is speaking. It is not altogether pleasant to think that just by looking at the backs of your hands somebody can discover all the secrets which you keep locked within your heart. This American woman says that children should be taught at an early age, not only psychology, but that general observation which will help them to sum up the characters of all those people with whom they will come in contact in life. When using very hot water f r r poisoned finger or toe, place the- whole hand or foot in the basin of water. You will then find you can bear the pain more easily. * * * Cut off the feet of old woollen socks and stockings and keep them lor polishing; put one on each hand, and apply polish with one and shine with the other.
