“THE CHASER" “The Circus of Life,” starring Micella Albani, in an exciting story of love and hate, dramatic in its intensity and enacted amid the frozewastes of Siberia, will be shown tonight at the Royal Theatre, Kingsland. The scenes in Russia, the raid on the Nihilist headquarters, the terrible hardships endured by the prisoner' sentenced to exile in Siberia, are sotof the most vividly realistic ever depicted in any drama of Russia. The second feature on the programme will be “The Chaser,” Harr} Langdon’s great comedy. Langdon plays the part of a much married man, who against his will is being thoroughly domesticated by L wife and mother-in-law. A new form of “make-up” was successfully used for the first time at the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios when Joan Crawford was photographed in “Twelve Miles Out” with the aid of ne* light effects. Ira Alorgan, is the cameraman who worked out the ne* method of “make-up”—lighting, greasepaint. L:ghts of different quality each lending a different photographvalue to the complexion on which are thrown, do the work. John Gilbert who plays the starring role of an outlaw of the high seas, was also photographed with the new arrangement " the close-ups of him in “Twelve Out.” The new picture was directed by Jack Conway with Ernest Torrence in a prominent role.
