LONDON INSPECTOR ON TOUR LEARNING LATEST METHODS (From Our Resident Reporter.) WELLINGTON, To-day. The chief veterinary inspector of the City of London, Colonel Dunlop Young, who arrived by the Makura this morning, is visiting New Zealand at the invitation of the Dominion Government and will make a month’s tour of the Dominion on an itinerary arranged by Dr. Reakes, of the Department of Agriculture. He was in Australia only a few days and intends to return for two months and to sail for Canada via Auckland. He will also visit America and France before returning to London. While passing through Australia he visited Canberra, where he was received by the Prime Minister, the Speaker and the Minister for Markets. He also inspected the abbatoirs and other veterinary interests in both Melbourne and Sydney. The purpose of his world tour is to see th© whole system of meat killing, inspection and shipment in meat producing countries. “As chief inspector for the City of London,” said Colonel Young, “it is very essential that I should know both ends of the industry. I hope to meet various officials at this end and have a chat over any little difficulties which arise from time to time and try to smoot them over as far as possible. I like to see the methods of different countries and to make comparisons. In every country one finds something different and some methods better than others. “I have previously visited all the South American countries. Spain, Portugal and Holland at the invitation of their respective Governments. I am not out to teach but out. to learn.”
