CATHEDRAL PLUNDERED
THEFT OF SACRED JEWELS Burglars recently broke Into the j Cathedral of Sens, an old city some 1 70 miles south-east of Paris, and plundered its treasure. Their booty included sacred jewels worth 100,000 francs, comprising two solid gold chains with crucifixes, one studded with diamonds. They also took a silver chalice and a snuffbox ornamented with a miniaj ture portrait of Pope Pius IX. ' "The treasury of the Cathedral of Sens is reputed to be the richest in j France,” says Lippincott.
