Police Methods will be Widely Investigated
HOME SECRETARY’S PLAN SCOTLAND YARD SCANDAL (United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright t (Australian Press Association) Reed. 12.25 p.m. LONDON, Friday. The Home Secretary, Sir William Joynson Hicks, in a statement before the tribunal, said he proposes on May 22 to make inquiries into the specificcharges mentioned in the House of Commons yesterday, in regard to the
detention and examination of Miss Savage at Scotland Yard. The whole thing arises from the indecency charges against Sir Leo Chiozza Money, which were dismissed. The Home Secretary added that when these inquiries were finished, he was prepared to assent to a larger investigation into vhe whole of the police, methods regarding witnesses. lie had arranged, in connection with this, to meet the Labour leaders for a discussion, before making definite proposals in the House of Commons. This larger investigation will be carried out by a different body from that appointed on May 22. The inquiry will be a public one.
