MIDNIGHT CATCH
THIEF AT ASHBURTON YOUTH STEALS CLOTHES Press Association. ASHBURTON, Friday. Following investigations into the breaking of penny-in- the-slot gas meters at the Domain, two constables kept watcli and at midnight arrested a youth aged 15, who v as returning to obtain something he had hidden in the pavilion at the Domain. Questioning revealeu the fact that tho lad hud broken into a workmen's camp at Kakuia, stealing articles from the huts, including suitcases with clothes. When arrested the lad had a bundle containing blankets, two overcoats, and other articles which the police discovered had been stolen from two local premises last evening. It is understood a sum of money was taken trom the Kakaia camp. The lad appeared at the Children's Court to-day, and was remanded until June 1, when other charges will be preferred against him. The lad came IroiT Christchurch.
