“MISS NEW ZEALAND’S” RETURN
Auckland Personal Appearances
Welcome home to “Miss New Zealand! ” To-morrow afternoon Miss Dale Austen will again set foot in her native land. The Aorangi, the same liner that took her away, is at the moment ploughing through the ocean, approaching the New Zealand coast.
i Miss Dale Austen has. indeed, been a fortunate young New Zealander. The experience she has gained in the studios of MetroGoldwyn - Mayer at Culver City, California, should I stand her in excellent stead. The film combination honoured its obit gation to “Miss New Zealand” in the manner it assured the FullerHayward Theatres, the sponsors of the film contest, before the Dunedin girl left our shores.
Well equipped for the plans that the Fuller-Hay ward organisation has in view for her, “Miss New Zealand” will be welcomed home by every New Zealand town that sent her so happily on ‘her way across the Pacific. “Miss New Zealand” was given her oportunity. In two important productions in which she appeared Ramon Novarro and Tim McCoy were the featured stars. Miss Austen also played in several comedies. Her first public appearances will be in Auckland, the city that fare welled her last year. A special film has been prepared for the Strand Theatre showing - “Miss New Zealand” arriving in Los Angeles, working in the studios, generally a faithful record of her adventures in Movieland. “Miss New Zealand” should be busily engaged for some time to come making personal appearances in conjunction with it. —THE MOVIE EDITOR.
