SHIVERING WORKERS
SPRAYED WITH OIL! One of the recent cool evenings in Hollywood brought a rather pathetic spectacle to one studio. At Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer scenes were being filmed for “Diamond Handcuffs” showing negro workers in the sweltering hat diamond mines of Africa. The almost naked negroes were sprayed with mineral oil to simulate perspiration, while they were chattering and dancing with the cold.
