WINTER SHOW TRAINS RAILWAY arrangements (Special to THE BUN) WELLINGTON, To-day. A number of special excursion Inins for farmers are to be run hv the Raiiway Department in connection with several forthcoming wvinter shows, and there are indications that the pastoral community will appreciate the faciliSST which will be provided. The Waikato Winter Show at 11am•iton the National Dairy Show at Palmerston North, and the Dunedin Win- ® Show will be linked up with distant parts by special trains. T*he largest experiment in the way of an excursion yet attempted on the railways will bo a farmers’ train from Whangarei for the Hamjlton Show'. Attached to the t rain will be a special TT. arranged by the Department of agriculture and fitted up as a travelling demonstration van. A field inpec tor of the department will be on the train and on the journey he will be able to give lectures and show many agricultural exhibits to the travellers. This is the first time a special train has-been planned from north of Auckland to Hamilton, and the first occasion on which instructional entertainment has been made available en route. Another special will run to the Waikato Show from Taranaki, and by this means fanners from the Welington Province will be able to visit the show also. Farmers in the Waikato are arranging to entertain their confreres from all over the North Island, and a great assembly of agriculturalists may be anticipated. Facilities will be made for the visitors to so on to Rotorua if they wish. For the Dunedin Show a special excursion will start from Hokitika for the benefit of West Coast farmers, and it is understood that the farmers are planning to take with them a number o£ exhibits to make a representative display at the show. Comparisons be'ween Otago and West Coast produce will be possible. A third farmers’ excursion will be run from the North to the National Dairy Show at Palmerston North, and will be on similar lines.
