Quiet Tone on ’Change

QUIET but steady trading is reported on ’Change. The bulk of the business is being transacted outside the call room.
"PANICS continue steady. Commercials of Australia are firm, and following business at 28s 9d yesterday afternoon sellers withdrew leaving buyers seeking more at that figure. In coals, Hikurangis are steadier, but sellers are hard to locate an no business is reported. A firm tone is registered in the miscellaneous section, but most shares are .Heady, with little alteration in quotations. Taranaki Oils held at yesterday’s levels this morning, but no business was recorded. Buyers of Colonial Supers raised their offers to £6O to find sellers holding firm at £6l ss. Mining had a. slighter brighter tone this morning. Moanataiaris were dealt with yesterday afternon at Is 6d.
Ohinemuris wer dealt with to-day at 7s. In the gilt-edged section most classes of Government and local body bonds ; and debentures are sought on a firm market. Business at yesterday afternoon’s call. —On ’Change: Sanford (pref.), 20s 3d. Reported: Wellington Woollens (ord.), £6 4s 9d; Moanataiari Mining (paid), Is 6d; Bank of New South Wales, £4B 7s 6d. This morning’s business. On ’Change: National Bank of New Zealand, £7 2s 6d; Ohinemuri Mining, 7s (two parcels). Reported: Sanford (ord.), 20s; Westport Stockton Coal (ord.), 3s; Lewis Eadie (pref.), 19s 6d; Kempthorne, Prosser’s New Zealand Drug Co., 69s 6d.
