TERRITORIALS ARE AS GOOD AS VETERANS

PRAISE BY GENERAL TRAINING GOOD FOR BOYS (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Friday. Major-General Young, Commandant New Zealand Forces, says the present Territorials are just as good as those of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Speaking at a meeting of returned soldiers here, the general said he felt confident that if the Territorials were ever called upon to fight they would do their part just as well as did the New Zealand soldiers in the Creat War. The general remarked that while a good deal had been heard of late in opposition to military training, he was quite sure that it was a good thing for the boys who underwent it. General Young added that as long as he felt he had the sympathy and backing of the returned soldiers of the Dominion he did not care twopence for anything else. Britain had never looked for trouble, but she had always felt it necessary to be prepared to defend her homes and her liberties, and New Zealand, as part of the great Empire, should be prepared to do her share.
